This past month we've been Practicing and learning interviewing. At first it was really nerve racking but after practicing a few times I sat down with Teen Musician James Falconer and conducted an interview. It was awkward at first but we got through it. After the interview I sat down and looked at the footage. The first problem I had was the centering, he had way too much head room and he was leaning backing his chair. I fixed the footage in Final Cut Pro and edited my best clips to later put in my Final Project. The last few weeks I've been working on my final project. A short news package on Jameson Falconer, To watch click here.

The past month we have been working on six word stories. The story I chose to film is 'Music will always bring us together'. I chose this because music is a big part of my life and it's a universal language. For example we can bond with complete strangers over music, it connects us. People all over the globe are connected by music everyday. For my first shot I used a medium shot of myself putting in ear buds, for my second shot I used a wide shot of me 'dancing like nobody's watching' on my bed, For the third shot I used a close up shot of The Catching's lead singer Holden Glazer on the guitar whose track 'Wild Ones' is featured in my video, For the forth shot I used a medium shot of my dad sharing music with me and for the fifth shot a wide shot of My dad, his girlfriend and myself dancing together. Last but not least I used a extreme wide crowd shot that I got at a concert, that shows many people coming together for music. I used my Dad and his girlfriend in this video to show that we may not all get along the best but music does always bring us together for a good time. This week we have been researching six word stories. One famous story we looked at was 'for sale, baby shoes, never worn" By Ernest Hemingway. With my research I found out he read many similar newspaper ads as a child that inspired this six word story. I looked at other Six Word stories on different websites. Some that I liked were, Strangers. Friends. Best Friends. Lovers. Strangers and THC,LSD,DUI,CPR,DOA,RIP. These stood out to me because they are simple but very deep. After this research, I'm inspired and excited to start on my own six word story!
Over the past few weeks we have been working In the TV Studio, I learned how to do many important jobs. First I learned how to be the Technical Director, In this job I switched the cameras and what would appear on the final take, I would switch between Camera 1, AJA and CG when the director told me to. Next I went to the teleprompter, this job caused me a lot of anxiety and I didn't enjoy it as much. Next I learned how to control AJA, this job was another one of my favorites and I got to play the intro/outro and pledge. Next I got to be Floor Director, naturally being a Leo I like to be in charge so I enjoyed this job a lot. After that I went to the most dreaded job, Talent and surprisingly once I got in front of the camera it wasn't that bad. After my nerves calmed down I got to be Director and call all the cues and commands, this was also one of my favorite jobs. Last but not least, I controlled the soundboard, sometimes I wish I could mute people in real life like I did in this job. I had a lot of fun and learned a lot in this unit. Each job is super important to the whole production and without one it would be a disaster. The past few days in Broadcast technology 1 we've been working on iMovie Trailers about ourselves. I made mine about my family and friends, and my life outside of school because that makes me who I am. A big part of my project is a couple clips from concerts I've been to and artists I have met. Music and concerts are a huge part of my life and I wouldn't be who I am without it. It was very difficult to choose only a couple small clips and videos because I have so many (I saw 16 artists and bands alone in 2018!!). I had a lot of fun with this assignment and I'm excited to see what I make In the future. |
